Strategic briefing #002: the five questions that expose weak control

The signal

In high-demand procurement, risk rarely says “I’m risk.”

It shows up as vagueness, urgency, and resistance to being pinned down.

So here’s a simple control: ask questions that force the deal into a written shape.

The five questions

Use these before you commit:

  1. What exactly is the deliverable—and what is explicitly excluded?
  2. What is the verification path, and when does it happen?
  3. If verification fails, what happens automatically?
  4. Who is accountable end-to-end?
  5. What’s the most common failure mode—and what’s your contingency?

If someone can’t answer these cleanly, you’re not buying certainty.

You’re financing uncertainty.
